Bride #1: The Union

During the last few hours, a lot had to be done. I got 'Team Hantaran" which consists of my sister and 2 cousins and "Team Attend-to-the-Bride's-Needs" of my 3 best friends.  A day before, we checked in at Somerset for what to be my final single night with them. Booked 2 rooms at a special rate I got through one of the #Wengurls who happens to stay there for her attachment in KL's office. When I left the house that afternoon, mom and I started crying, realizing the next time I step foot on that house, I'd be a wife. It was quite an emotional moment, though it was only the time to go to the hotel not to get married per se.

That evening, while Kak Norish was doing my henna, "Team Hantaran" rolled up their sleeves, drowned themselves in the pool of fresh flowers, restrained their desire from finishing my cupcakes (or so I was told), trying to finish the arrangements, a total of 9 trays. They were:

Formal shoes

  DJ Hero

Perfume

Casual Shoes

Sejadah + Nabi Muhammad Biography (I took away the kain pelikat)

Formal Clothes

Wedding Ring

Rainbow Cake by Bite-Me!

Sirih Junjung

It was the time I felt totally pampered, there was someone to help me answer the phone, someone to shove food down my throat, someone to be my messenger, just someone to be the other 'me' at final preparations. Awesome work "Team Attend-to-the-Bride's-Needs"!!! Couldn't deny I enjoyed that brief moment.

Come the auspicious day, the day I was about to be taken as someone's lawfully wedded wife, the day it was right to say "It's show time!"

Woke up at 6am, showered and put on Garnier Lightening Peel Off Mask (as suggested by Renee ;) ) while waiting for Khir, the Acestudio and Avicenna team to arrive. My 3 girls were still sleeping at that time, poor thing had to stay up 'till 5am to finish my hand bouquets arrangement. I'm just so lucky! *sobs*

I was ready by 915am and then it was time to head to the Duchess Place to meet my man the rest of the families before the akad nikah. The moment I saw my parents, my mom was already sobbing and I started to tear a bit. It's just a family 'thing' you see, the girls are all a weeper. Then I saw my bridesmaids, all 9 of them looking sweet in their peach dresses. Apparently two of them had a 'dress malfunction' but it was all sorted out just in time for the event. Thanks girlss! ;)

A and family arrived close to 10am, together with his entourage clad in pastel green baju melayu. Then it was time for me and my girls to march in. I was expecting a lengthy speech from the tok kadi but before I could really settle myself down, Ayah and A had already exchanged the 'ijab dan qabul' dan dengan 1 lafaz, D sah menjadi isteri kepada A =) or as I'd like to call it, #awediha is finally united

So, there you have it girls. I kept my identity a secret partly because of this wedding was quite a closed event for my family and I. Not many people knew that I was getting married, well not many knew I even had a boyfriend. That was just how I keep some things to myself. Anyway, A and I are both ready to embrace what the future may hold for us. Pray for us ya!

My deepest thanks to my family, for putting up with my indecisiveness, for tolerating my sudden outrages and for accepting my crazy ideas.

My 3 best girlfriends, indeed a 'Fanstastic Four' we are. Words wouldn't be enough to show how grateful I am to have you three around, it felt like a big weight was lifted off my shoulder. Really, thanks a lot!

Junajunies, my twinkies, my kitty purry (ok don't mind the names, it's just how I categorize my friends) hurmm where do I begin? We all know we have shared so so much! Part of this happened because all of you. Thanks sayangssss!

Wedding Wishes, Wedding Gifts..and Final Honeymoon Preps

Thank you, everyone, for your well wishes, prayers, kind words and the generous & thoughtful wedding gifts + ang pows. Got a chance to snap some pictures of them:

After his side reception this Sunday, oh Bali here we come! We need to exchange large amount of MYR into USD and IDR. Heard that Midvalley Megamall LG Floor Centre Court has best place to exchange currency. And last prep for the honeymoon, yesterday I called Madaline Nails & Waxing Salon by Glitters located at The Gardens for waxing appointment. Will drag my man along next Monday, he seems interested when I mentioned it to him... maybe he'll try it too?

Few hours to go... Wanna leave office and go play, Bride #2

This weekend right after Bride #3 and the owner of FL Adore's receptions, A and I will head to Seoul for our express honeymoon. Why express? Cos I will only be there for 2 nights while A gonna continue for another 2 nights to attend a conference.

Am so psyched to see the room that we've booked!

Bride #1: Her Playlist

I am quite particular on what songs to be played on my wedding day. Ever since my encounter of 'Sampai Hati by Spring' at one wedding I attended few years back, I vowed to have full control on the playlist.

An avid fan of Jazz/Soul musics, you could guess that most of the songs were from my favorite Jazz/Soul singers. From the likes of Sheila Majid, Atilia, Najwa, Maliq & D'Essentials, Ingrid, Tilu, Sade etc. And of course, to include those great love songs from the year I grew up and learnt about the world, songs from 90s. 90s rock my socks!!!

I wanted to serve my guests not just food for the tummies but also for their souls. So what I did was to get people to tell me their all time favorite love songs, via twitter, meet ups, whatsapps. I imagined them having a good time at my wedding, to feel the kind of love I felt, to sing along to their favorite tunes and so they did ;)

So here's the list, of some you could use for your wedding too ;)

One of the most emotional parts of my wedding was when my 3 bestfriends went up on stage to give their speeches and sang Cristina Perri - Thousand Years. Bride #1: flower power

Guess you would probably know where I got my stocks of fresh flowers. It's none other than Floristika located in Bangsar. Since we were buying in a large quantity, my sister and I paid a visit 2 weeks earlier to make a booking. True, it was like a huge icebox that we were literally shivering in there. Make sure to plan ahead on types of flowers you are going to use. We had troubles choosing and ended up ordering more than what needed. Overspent part uno.

Look at our car trunk!

Another place which we frequent to is in Petaling Street, Weng Hoa Flower Boutique. Here was where we got all different types of flower foam holders. Can't really say if the price was reasonable since we didn't really bother to compare them with other flower suppliers. Parking is quite a problem so if you plan to go here, make sure someone else is driving. Ehemm thanks BIL! ;)

What we used:

Dan hasilnya...9 trays of hantaran for A. Utmost gratitude to my sister for putting these all together. Love you, Along!

They stayed up 'till the wee hours just for this, after being my hands and eyes during the final set up at Duchess Place. 'That', my dear, are true best friends.

Your Raya piece, perhaps?

Now that I'm done with the wedding, my eyes are still fixated to all the pretty pretty things. So I have been doing some 'research' on what could be my raya clothes for this year.

Among my favorites...

and this...!!!

While you are at their page, do have a look at their bridal collections. Jaw-dropping moment, I tell you...

And these are from Nurita Harith

Have sent a query to ask the price for each of the pieces above. Will try to update once I get the info.

Bride #1: Her Henna

I wished to blog about the whole details of my wedding day, bit by bit in the most appropriate order. But I don't really have all the photos with me yet. Hence, I will write as when it becomes available.

First up, the stories of my henna, of wonderful work from Kak Norish

photo by my sister & Acestudio

It was quite a pure luck that I stumbled upon her name in one of the B2B's blog, Yuyu. Based on good reviews on her work, I looked no further and made the booking as early as 3-4 months before the wedding day. And I have to say she really lives up to what Yuyu said in her blog. Such a breeze dealing with her, Alhamdulillah.

Received a lot of good comments on the outcome of my henna. The colors turned out great, people were amazed at the intricacy of the designs. I, too, had the highest respect of her patience, long hours staring at people's feet/hands, while trying to maintain her own composure as not to ruin the whole look, is not something any ordinary people can do. So take my words ladies, get Kak Norish to do your henna. Insya Allah, you won't be disappointed.
